🌙 Japytu — Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 21, 2026
In one sentence
Japytu does not transmit your data to its own servers. The optional Health app integration happens on your iPhone and only with your permission.
How the app uses the microphone
Japytu uses the microphone during sleep sessions that you start manually to measure noise levels and recognize sound events (snoring, speech, coughing, and movement) using entirely on-device processing (Apple SoundAnalysis). Short audio clips of detected events are stored only on your iPhone so you can listen to them later.
How the app uses motion sensors
When you enable Mattress Mode, Japytu uses the accelerometer to record bed movement during the session. This data is processed and stored only on your iPhone. The feature is optional and can be disabled in the app's Settings.
Optional Health app integration
When you connect Japytu to the Health app and grant iOS permission, Japytu writes only the start and end times of nights and naps you have confirmed. The record is saved as sleep with no stage specified.
The current version does not read Health data and never sends audio, detected sounds, estimated sleep stages, movement, notes, or ratings to Health. You can stop future writes in Japytu Settings and manage existing records in the Health app. Health's use of iCloud follows your Apple account settings.
What is collected
Nothing is transmitted to the developer. The app has no servers, requires no account, uses no analytics, and displays no advertising. Sessions, notes, and statistics remain on the device, protected by the iOS sandbox. Audio clips are excluded from device backups; records without audio may be included in iPhone backups according to the options you choose in iOS.
Sharing with third parties
Japytu does not sell data, use it for advertising, or send it to third-party servers. If you enable the optional integration, the sleep times you choose are written on-device to Apple Health through HealthKit, under permissions you control.
Control and deletion of data
You can delete any night (and its clips) within the app, delete all clips in Settings → Storage, or remove everything by uninstalling the app. Automatic clip retention is also configurable. When you delete a session, Japytu also attempts to remove the corresponding record it created in Health. You can also delete Health records directly in that app.
Health
Japytu provides estimates based on sound and movement for informational purposes. It is not a medical device and does not replace professional advice or a sleep study (polysomnography).
